Fire alarm Monday evening in Wattens, Tyrol: a garden shed between two residential buildings suddenly caught fire. It was a huge challenge for the emergency services to prevent the fire from spreading, especially since gas bottles were stored in the cabin and a car was parked in the adjacent garage.
The Wattens fire brigade was alerted to the fire shortly after 1 a.m. “When we arrived on site, the garden house was already completely on fire,” operations manager Martin Schrott told the “Krone”. Because the cabin was located between two residential buildings and right next to a garage, it was especially important to prevent the flames from spreading.
support requested
Due to the precarious situation, the Kolsass fire brigade was requested for support. “In the garden shed there were, among other things, a moped, a scooter, a gas bottle and a lawnmower. There was a BMW in the adjoining garage,” says Schrott, adding: “In the end, we were able to stop the flames from spreading. We were on site ten minutes after the alarm, otherwise it would have all had a different dimension.”
As a result, the garden house completely burned down. There was only minor fire damage to neighboring buildings. “At around 3:45 a.m., we were finally able to ‘put out the fire,’” says Operations Manager Schrott.
Cause currently unclear
The Wattens and Kolsass fire brigades were deployed with 35 members and six vehicles. A pupil of Floriani had to be hospitalized as a precaution. Fortunately, it was soon clear. “He is doing well and he was able to go home,” Schrott explains with relief. The cause of the fire is still unclear at this time. The police investigation is ongoing.
