Date:

A spectacular accident caused a stir in Bregenz on Monday evening. A Mercedes with German registration was speeding from Bregenz train station in the direction of the harbour. During a failed drift maneuver he lost control of the wheel and his car ended up on the track.

On Monday evening around 9.08 pm, a traffic accident took place in Bregenz, near the milk mushroom. A Mercedes with German registration was speeding from Montfortstrae to Seestraße in the direction of Lochau. Due to a failed drift maneuver, the vehicle driver slipped and slipped more than 100 meters along the Seestraße.

Four prisoners escaped
He came into the oncoming lane, drove onto the sidewalk, broke through the beech hedge along the track, then came to a stop on the rails. According to witnesses, all four occupants fled via Seestrasse to the center of Bregenz and left the vehicle unattended on the track.

Due to the standstill of the vehicle on the track and the high-voltage line above it, all train traffic had to be stopped and the live line had to be interrupted in order to recover the vehicle with a recovery crane from the Bregenz-Stadt fire brigade.

There is currently no trace of the speeder that drove the Mercedes and its three passengers. The police are investigating.
