Russia asks UN nuclear agency for ‘further clarification’ on Zaporizhzhya report

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrovon Wednesday requested the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations to “additional clarifications” on his report on the situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

For his part, the general manager of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, Alexei Lijachev, has emphasized that the company “is ready” to cooperate with the IAEAand has stated that the company will “do everything possible to ensure safe operations at the station.”

On the contrary, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, Vasili Nebenzia, has criticized that the IAEA report does not “directly indicate the source of the shots” of the latest data against the plant, which Russia blames on the Ukrainian army.

Hours before the Russian statements, Ukraine’s President Volodimir Zelensky celebrated that the IAEA report on the nuclear power plant contains allusions to Russia’s military control over the facilities, while stressing that it is time for the agency to “force” troops into Moscow. and withdraw equipment.

“The report points to the presence of Russian military equipment on the territory of the nuclear power plant, emphasizes the pressure on our nuclear specialists and makes clear references to the Russian military occupation. It’s okayZelensky said in his usual late-night speech.
