It was going to be the best vacation ever for California’s Elizabeth Webster and Alexander Burckle. For their honeymoon, the couple also booked a snorkeling tour in Hawaii…
The experienced divers were dropped by the provider in the middle of the sea with the announcement that they would be picked up again. But there was no information about the time and the pick-up point. After an hour, the newlyweds tried to swim to the distant but visible boat, but it simply pulled away without the couple.
“The plaintiffs panicked and struggled to swim in the ocean,” said Jared A. Washkowitz, the young couple’s attorney. Exhausted and dehydrated, the two were rescued by the Coast Guard. Despite several counts, two passengers on the tour boat were not noted.
Snorkel company sued
“Elizabeth Webster and Alexander Burckle spent a lot of time in the water, and if they weren’t young, healthy and athletic people, they probably would have drowned,” Washkowitz said. The couple is now suing the snorkeling company for the equivalent of 4.6 million euros.
