The bus driver, from which the container with a flammable chemical material came, fled

An accident on the Ciudad Victoria-Monterrey highway, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, in the northeastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, killed at least 18 people and injured more. Apparently the cause of the accident was the dislodgement of the tank. The truck driver has fled and is wanted by the police.

The accident occurred in the early hours of this Saturday at 4:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. GM), near the community of San Francisco, in the municipality of Hidalgo, Tamaulipas state, killing passengers on their way to the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

According to versions, the crowded passenger bus, seating about 40, collided with the twin trailer carrying a flammable chemical called varsol, a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons derived from petroleum.

The report from the Tamaulipas Public Security Secretariat indicates that a person, believed to be the driver of the truck, who apparently fled the crime scene, is under investigation to determine if he is responsible for the event.

The prosecution contributed in its investigation that the crash was caused by the possible detachment of the container, loaded with a chemical, which was transported to Ciudad Victoria, while the passenger truck was en route to the territory of Nuevo León.

The impact is believed to have caused the explosion that set off a fire from which the users of the unit were unable to escape.

Hidalgo’s state government has ordered funds to support the families of the deceased, some from the Huejutla community, and has also offered transport to Tamaulipas to conduct legal proceedings to recover their remains.
