Six people were injured in a collision between a car and an ambulance in Straß, Styria on Saturday night.
A 43-year-old sent the ambulance north on the B67 with blue lights and a tracking horn around 11:15 PM. A 32-year-old from Leibniz drove in front of him in his car and turned to the right side of the road to avoid him.
Car thrown in the field
The ambulance driver began to overtake, but at that point the 32-year-old should have turned left again and the two vehicles collided. The impact caused the 32-year-old’s car to land in the adjacent field.
Multiple occupants injured
The 43-year-old and a 24-year-old from Leibniz, who were also in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries in the accident. The 28-year-old passenger from the Deutschlandsberg district was seriously injured. In addition to the driver were an 18-year-old Leibnitz woman and a 59-year-old woman from southeastern Styria in the ambulance. All three suffered minor injuries.
The Red Cross was deployed with seven vehicles and 15 people. All the injured were taken to the LKH Wagna by them. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
