In the case of the tied-up dog that was found dead in a well shaft in April, the St. Pölten prosecutor’s office has now filed a report. The suspect: the dog owner’s partner.
The case had caused a stir, with animal welfare organizations and private individuals offering large sums of money for information. After a long search, the nine-year-old border collie mix was discovered on April 21 by the pet’s owner on his property in Altlengbach (St. Pölten district) in the seven-meter-deep well shaft filled with water.
The explosive thing about it was: The dog’s front and hind legs and muzzle were tied together with package cord and tape. The animal had previously been reported missing. The results of the veterinary examination painted a horrific picture.
Fighting to survive
According to previous police reports, fluid in the quadruped’s lungs suggested he had drowned in the well after a struggle for survival. Previously, the animal had apparently been injured by blunt force.
“All the evidence” charges madam
The woman is charged with “the totality of the evidence,” Bien said. Further details were not given. DNA of the suspect was found on the inside of the adhesive tape, according to “Kurier”. A trial date was not initially set. If convicted, the accused could face up to two years in prison.
