Public request for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s resignation has already been backed by 84 municipal deputies (councillors) from all over Russia, demanding that the Duma, or Chamber of Deputies, accuse the Kremlin head of high treason for starting the military campaign in Ukraine.
Among the delegates who have supported the demand are: officials from Moscow and Saint Petersburgin addition to mayors from other regions of the European part of the country and Siberia.
Dmitri Paliuga, author of the initiative and municipal deputy in Saint Petersburg, has reported on his Twitter account that has been summoned to appear this Tuesday before a district court in Saint Petersburg for allegedly discrediting the Russian president.
Paliuga and some of his colleagues turned to the State Duma last week asking it to accuse Putin of high treason for initiating the “special military operation”.
