Dangerous incident on Monday afternoon in the Tyrolean Gries am Brenner (Innsbruck-Land district): After a cow gave birth to a calf in a meadow, the mother animal attacked the young. A neighbor observed the scenes and wanted to save the calf – then was attacked himself.
The incident took place in a fenced-in meadow around 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to police. The cow gave birth to a calf there and attacked it immediately after birth.
A 74-year-old neighbor of the cow owner saw the incident, went to pasture and tried to save the calf, after which the mother suddenly attacked the man, researchers said.
Another neighbor came to help
Another neighbor who got wind of the attack rushed to help the locals and distracted the aggressive cow so the 74-year-old could get to safety. The retiree was injured.
