Pentagon was in the picture – “Ukraine offensive only surprised the Russians”

Date:

It is no secret that Ukraine can count on the help of Western intelligence services in defending against the Russian war of aggression. Information has also been provided to the armed forces during their recent counter-offensive in the Kharkiv region, US officials have admitted. The government is silent on whether they also helped devise the strategy that flattened the Russians. But one thing recently made one thing clear, Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder: If any, only the troops loyal to Moscow were surprised by the speed of Ukraine’s advance.

“We have seen Ukrainians show remarkable adaptability and use their war skills with great success. So it’s not surprising to us that they’ve moved forward so quickly,” Brigadier Ryder said when asked by a reporter.

Ukrainians use momentum
The Ukrainian military has proven to take advantage of the opportunities presented on the battlefield. The current counter-offensive in the Kharkov region is no exception. “I think if anyone was surprised just by the reports we’ve seen about the Russian military’s response, it was probably the Russians,” the Pentagon spokesman said.

Even as Ukraine has recaptured dozens of settlements and forced Russian troops into a chaotic retreat, the US is wary of speaking of a turning point or even announcing an early victory. Instead, the US military looks to the battles ahead.

Space problem due to many prisoners of war
According to Ukrainian military officials, so many Russian soldiers surrendered that Ukraine struggled to make room for them. Despite this, Putin’s armed forces still have many troops and resources and control large parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. The Pentagon spokesman could not provide information on specific numbers. Meanwhile, Russia’s response to the sudden and large losses is awaited. “I don’t want to speculate about what Russia might do now,” Ryder said.

He also outlined plans to provide Ukraine with more weapons and expand the training of its soldiers. So far, Kiev’s troops have “used the equipment at their disposal with great success,” the general emphasized. The US Department of Defense is now considering giving larger Ukrainian units more intensive combat training. Until now, this was aimed at smaller teams. The United States is also considering deploying additional air defense systems, deadly combat drones and more surveillance drones.
