The investigation against a suspect in the Mattersburg district is in full swing. The Eisenstadt Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered a police operation due to dangerous threats. A large contingent of officers from the Cobra special unit marched in front of the suspect’s house in Schattendorf.
Walter R. had been wanted for days. The 66-year-old man, who often stayed in Hungary, is no stranger and used to be a big name in the red light district. On Monday his car was parked in front of his house in Schattendorf. Preparations started in the morning and entry took place in the afternoon.
Customers missed appointments
The Cobra drove to the residential area in an armored car. The workers’ street was cordoned off over a large area. The shutters were lowered for a cosmetic studio in the cordoned off area: “Due to the operation, our customers could not come to their appointments.”
Suicide in the basement
The Eisenstadt public prosecutor wanted to have the suspect presented. But when Walter R. noticed the police action, he barricaded himself in the basement of his house. Drones circled the building. The special unit Cobra stormed the house and tried to arrest the suspect. According to local residents, three shots were fired. No further arrests were made. The suspect took his own life.
