Tragic accident Friday in Liezen shopping center: A man (83) wanted to pass in front of a truck. The driver apparently missed him and rolled over the pedestrian. He died on the spot.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. on the parking deck of a shopping center in Liezen. The truck driver, a 31-year-old Slovenian, stopped at the exit because another car was about to pull out. At that moment, an 83-year-old wanted to pass in front of the truck – and was run over.
Police said the pedestrian may have been out of sight of the truck driver. He came to a stop under the truck. The driver immediately stopped, got out and started the rescue chain.
CPR failed
Rescuers tried to resuscitate the man for an hour – to no avail. He later died at the accident site.
