An unprecedented state funeral sacks Elizabeth II on September 19, 2022

London hosts the State Funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96 after more than seven decades as sovereign of the United Kingdom. So the Elizabethan era will finally come to an end – after 11 days of mourning – with this funeral after the mass attendance at the burning chapel in the Palace of Westminster and in an armored city.

More than 500 heads of state and world leaders will attend the funeral that will take place at 12 noon at Westminster Abbey From London. In addition, another 1,500 people were invited to the funeral.

London’s Metropolitan Police has arranged a strong unit consisting of: 10,000 agents (Over 3,000 arrived from different parts of the UK). Many streets in central London remain closed today, mainly between Buckingham Palace, Green Park and St James’s Park.

According to Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Stuart Cundy, it will be the “final and most complex phase” of the massive police operation that has been making all the preparations since Elizabeth II’s death.

Some 2,300 police officers will guard Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin on her final journey from Westminster Abbey, where her state funeral will take place, to Windsor Castle, where she will be buried in St George’s Chapel.

The solemn event will be: broadcast by the BBC and can also be followed on YouTube. During the day, declared a national holiday, there will be many who prefer to go to the capital. London has one of the largest transport activities in the UK because it is expected that a million people visit the capital.

For example, there will be 250 extra train services, including night trains, while the national road authority has suspended the closures in England to prevent the transport network from becoming overloaded.

This is the agenda for the day:

06:30 am. Closure of Elizabeth II’s funeral chapel at the Palace of Westminster.

08:00 o’clock. Those attending the funeral service, attended by 500 leaders from around the world, begin arriving at Westminster Abbey.

10:44 am. Elizabeth II’s coffin leaves the seat of the British Parliament and heads for the abbey in funeral procession. The new King Carlos III and his three brothers -Ana, Andrés and Eduardo-, as well as their children, Princes Guillermo and Enrique, will walk behind the monarch’s remains.

11 a.m.. The religious ceremony begins, attended by some 2,000 guests, led by the Dean of Westminster, David Hoyle. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will deliver a sermon and British Prime Minister Liz Truss will read a religious text.

11:55 am. A bugle call marks the beginning of a two-minute silence that will be observed across the UK.

12:15 pm. The coffin leaves the funeral procession from the abbey to Wellington Arch, in the southeastern corner of Hyde Park. Big Ben, the famous bell in the tower of the Palace of Westminster, will chime at one-minute intervals during the procession.

1:00 pm.. The monarch’s remains will be transferred to a hearse for their final journey to Windsor Castle, about 22 miles west of London.

03:00.. The chest is near the castle. A procession on foot will cover the 5 kilometers of the Long Walk, the characteristic tree-lined avenue leading to the royal residence.

4:00 in the afternoon.. Elizabeth II’s remains enter the castle’s St George’s Chapel, where some 800 guests attend a religious ceremony led by the Dean of Windsor, David Comey. At the end of the service, the coffin is transferred to the chapel’s royal crypt, where the remains of Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband, who died in 2021 at the age of 99, are also buried.

7:30 pm. Elizabeth II will be buried next to Prince Philip in a private ceremony attended by members of the royal family. The marble slab of her tomb will be engraved with the words: “Elizabeth II 1926-2022”.
