The 31-year-old has ridden the tracks of the Attergaubahn countless times in his hometown of St. Georgen im Attergau in Upper Austria. Nothing ever happened. Until now.

The red light at the railroad crossing was on. The 31-year-old, who had ridden the tracks many times before, may have simply overlooked it. The 41-year-old driver from Attersee was unable to do anything. There was a collision.

Train jumped off the rails
The slow train, carrying six passengers, jumped off the rails. The car was thrown to the side. All passengers and the driver were unharmed on the train, but the driver suffered serious injuries, so that he had to be flown to the hospital in Vöcklabruck by rescue helicopter “Martin 3”. The accident site was reopened two hours later.
