Global Reactions – “Mobilization of Putin is a sign of weakness”

Date:

The partial mobilization announced by Russian ruler Vladimir Putin has caused shock and bewilderment around the world. Bridget Brink, the US ambassador to Kiev, spoke of “a sign of weakness”. Britain’s defense secretary said Putin “sent tens of thousands of his citizens to their deaths — ill-equipped and incompetently managed”.

“President Putin is breaking his promise not to mobilize sections of the population. This fact and the continued illegal annexation of Ukraine are signs that his invasion is about to fail. No propaganda in the world can hide the fact that Ukraine will win this war,” British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in a statement.

“There is only one aggressor – Russia!”
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala tweeted: “The partial mobilization is just more proof that there is only one aggressor in this war – namely Russia. We must continue to help Ukraine, in our own interest.”

The US ambassador in Kiev described not only the partial mobilization but also the mock referendums in the occupied territories as a “sign of a Russian defeat”: “The United States will never accept Russian greed for further annexations in Ukraine.”

Scholz: “Empty Imperialism”
Even before Putin’s speech, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had accused the Russian ruler before the United Nations of “blatant imperialism” and promised Ukraine further aid, including arms deliveries. “Putin will only give up his war and his imperial ambitions if he realizes he cannot win this war,” Scholz said Tuesday evening at the UN General Assembly in New York. “He is not only destroying Ukraine, he is also ruining his own country.”
