A serious accident occurred in morning traffic on the Operngasse in Vienna on Wednesday morning: when turning, a truck probably hit a cyclist. The woman has crawled under the heavy vehicle with her two-wheeler!
“The alarm was sounded shortly after 8 a.m.,” APA’s professional fire service spokesman Jürgen Figerl said on request. The fire brigade was deployed with six vehicles and 32 men. “We secured the truck, freed the woman under the truck with hydraulic rescue equipment, carefully removed it and handed it over to the professional rescue service in Vienna.”
“The woman suffered serious injuries to her legs in the accident,” explains professional rescue spokeswoman Corina Had. “She was taken to a hospital shock room.” The rescue was with four teams on the spot.
The operation took about an hour. The accident caused major traffic congestion and traffic jams on the Rechte Wienzeile and in the side streets.
