Abolished from May 1 – Green passport will soon become history in Italy

Date:

Italy wants to take further steps to lift the corona restrictions. From May 1, the government of Prime Minister Mario Draghi will abolish the so-called Green Passport, Health Minister Andrea Costa said in an interview with journalists on Friday. This means that the 2G and 3G obligation does not apply. Employees no longer need to show a green passport to gain access to the workplace.

In May there will be further relaxation of the Corona rules, the Green Passport is no longer necessary. We are still considering whether we should remove the masks completely indoors or keep them under certain circumstances,” Costa explains. In certain situations, such as in public transport, metros, buses and trains, it may make sense to maintain the obligation to wear masks for a while, as the number of infections is still high, according to the State Secretary for Health.

2G proof required in cinemas, theaters and concerts by the end of April
Since April 1, Italy has lifted the 2G requirement in hotels and no proof of vaccination, recovery or testing is required on public transport and in shops. Access to museums, archaeological parks, exhibitions, archives, libraries and other cultural sites is neither subject to the 2G nor the 3G obligation. Visiting cinemas, theaters and concerts is only allowed until 30 April with 2G proof. FFP2 masks are also required.
