Mysterious Case – Who is the dead man that apparently no one missed?

Date:

The case confuses investigators from the Tyrolean State Police: The identity of the severely decomposed body that a resident discovered in his own garden in Hall (Innsbruck-Land district) on Monday afternoon is still unclear. Did no one miss the person? Was it foul play? And how long had the dead man been there anyway?

It must have been a shock! The resident of the building in Hall will never forget this sight. He was looking for his cat around lunchtime on Monday. Eventually, the man found a dead body in an area of the garden that was difficult to access and difficult to see – specifically, the remains of a human being!

The alerted police cordoned off the area. The officers were confronted with a gruesome scene. Initially it was not even clear whether the deceased was a man or a woman. “For the most part, the corpse was very badly decomposed, but part of it was already skeletonized,” said lead researcher Philipp Rapold from the LKA Tirol.

No clues in the missing persons case
The identity is still a mystery. There are currently no indications of missing persons in the region, says Rapold, who hopes for information from the population. But above all, the researchers rely on DNA comparison. “We then hope for a hit in the database. But it will probably take a week before a result is available.”

Murder cannot be ruled out
Due to the condition of the remains, the cause of death could not be definitively determined during the forensic autopsy. “We investigate in all directions,” Rapold explains. Negligence by third parties cannot therefore be excluded.

It is still completely unclear how long the body had been in the difficult to access and visible part of the garden. Likewise, whether the man’s death occurred at this point.

The house and garden are part of a larger complex. The resident who made the terrible discovery lives there alone.
