In Pakistan, a father set fire to and killed his son because of poor academic performance. As the police announced on Wednesday, the suspect has been arrested and has already confessed to the crime. He is now under investigation for murder. The man’s wife had filed a complaint.
The father claimed it was an accident. Since his son was not bothered about school, the father wanted to teach him a lesson. To scare the boy, the man said he had poured kerosene on him.
Throwing a burning match
Since the boy remained unimpressed, it was said, the angry father threw a burning match at him. He and his wife extinguished the fire and then took the boy to hospital. There he succumbed to his serious injuries.
The incident happened in the past week. He later turned up to police after the case went viral on social media. The parents did not describe the cause of the injuries at the hospital. However, it is still unclear whether the court will eventually convict the father of murder. According to the lead investigator, many murder cases in Pakistan end with a “compromise” in court.
