Fire alarm on Thursday in the early morning hours in Innsbruck: a bus suddenly went up in flames on the grounds of the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe (IVB). No one was injured. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
At around 7 am, the articulated bus suddenly caught fire on the IVB site. The vehicle was outside, there were no people inside. The rear part of the vehicle was hit. The huge column of smoke was visible from far into the city area.
Fire quickly under control
“Thanks to the rapid intervention of the professional fire brigade, who came with two fire extinguishing teams and a special vehicle, the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. There was considerable material damage to the vehicle,” said Deputy Mayor Johannes Anzengruber (ÖVP), who is responsible for security in Innsbruck.
Fortunately, the alarmed rescue service was quickly withdrawn, as no one was injured in the fire.
