After a 65-year-old had mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals at a roundabout in Carinthia, he left the road. The accident left the man trapped in his car.
A small mistake, especially while driving, can have devastating consequences. A man (65) from the Klagenfurt-Land district had to experience it firsthand on Saturday morning. He was driving on Turracher Bundesstraße from Moosburg in the direction of Feldkirchen around 7:30 am when he suddenly switched the brake pedal for the accelerator pedal at the roundabout.
Stuck in the car
The vehicle then accelerated and left the lane on the right, where it fell into a five to seven meter deep embankment. “The 65-year-old was trapped in his car in the accident and only 15 emergency services from Moosburg FF were eventually able to free him,” the Moosburg police said. After first aid, he was admitted to the Klagenfurt clinic with injuries of unknown degree.
The car was a total loss and the man was not under the influence of alcohol.
