Saturday evening there was a kitchen fire in a residential building in Weiz in Styria. The fire brigade was able to save six people in time. They still had to go to the hospital.
At 9:50 p.m., a 48-year-old man was already asleep in his bed when he was suddenly awakened by the smell of smoke. Because he has difficulty walking, he crawled across the floor to his kitchen. There he discovered that it had already completely gone up in flames. He was able to save himself in the stairwell and screamed for help, so that a neighbor immediately alerted the emergency services.
Firefighters got everyone to safety
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and bring everyone in the home to safety. Six people had to be taken to the LKH Weiz with suspected smoke inhalation, but in the end no one was injured.
The 48-year-old’s home was completely destroyed by the fire. How the fire started is still under investigation.
