A 58-year-old man slipped into his mobile home in the Pfändertunnel on the Rheintalautobahn (A14) near Bregenz on Sunday evening. The drunk driver crashed into the tunnel wall with his vehicle. After first aid, he was taken to the Bregenz state hospital, the police said.
The accident happened around 9.30 pm when the 58-year-old was driving towards the Tyrol. For unknown reasons, he went too far to the left and hit the tunnel wall, causing the mobile home to skid and come to a stop against the right tunnel wall in the right lane.

An alcohol test performed was positive. The camper was a total loss. As a result of the accident, the Pfänder tunnel was closed in both directions until 10:30 p.m. The lighting in the tunnel was also damaged, according to police.
