Citing projects in Sweden and a resolution, farmers’ representatives want to take the next step against the wolf in Carinthia.
“The European Commission accepts wolf-free zones in Sweden. It was introduced there to protect free reindeer husbandry,” explains Bernhard Rebernig of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture.
And the farmers’ representatives also want to use this argument to enforce wolf-free zones in Carinthia: “This serves to protect free livestock and traditional alpine farming as well as the mountain landscape!”
On Monday, a unanimous resolution was passed in the Chamber of Agriculture, which will be handed over personally to the responsible EU representatives. “In November we will all go to Brussels and demand what has been needed for a long time!”
