After a series of crimes in Lower Austria, the handcuffs clicked for a duo. One of the men allegedly offered sportswear, toys and electrical equipment for sale online, but did not deliver the goods. In addition, he and an accomplice would have stolen electric bicycles. According to the National Police, there are 31 violations with a damage of approximately 83,000 euros.
According to investigations by the Krems Police Inspectorate, a 24-year-old Romanian citizen is suspected of serious and commercial fraud. He is alleged to have committed 15 unsuccessful sales violations in April. With a 20-year-old compatriot, he is also said to have stolen eleven electric bicycles with a total value of around 31,000 euros from July to September in Krems.
The duo are also accused of renting expensive electric bicycles for test rides at eight shops in Krems, Klosterneuburg (Tulln district), Horn, Hollabrunn and Traiskirchen (Baden district) in June and not returning them. According to the National Police, this alone has caused damage of almost 50,000 euros.
Arrest warrants from the prosecutor’s office in Krems were executed on September 11 in Linz and 14 days later in the Lower Austrian statutory city. Both men have largely confessed. They were taken to the Vienna-Josefstadt prison.
