There were no letters – complaints about mail delivery never stop

Date:

The mailboxes in many households in Upper Austria have been empty for quite some time. The post office is urgently looking for deliverers.

“The Post brings something for everyone”, this saying has been crumbling more and more lately, at least in Upper Austria. After the first “Krone” message about empty mailboxes, other affected people report almost every day. “We have had problems since the beginning of April. Since then, we have received the mail once a week,” says a reader from Neuhofen an der Krems, who is also concerned that problems could arise with the absentee ballot for the federal presidential elections.

Last letter on September 22
“These conditions have existed in Freinberg near Linz for months. Whether it’s sick leave or vacation, mail is only delivered sporadically. This time it is particularly bad, the last letter came on September 22. In addition, we are a school that regularly receives a lot of mail,” writes another affected person. According to information from “Krone”, seven districts in Linz-Süd alone would be empty.

Message confirms problems
Swiss Post says: “Like all sectors and companies, we also face the challenges of today’s job market. If there is more absenteeism in one area, this means an extra burden for the employees on duty. We ask for your understanding for our deliverers, who make extra efforts to ensure that deliveries are made to all addresses on a regular basis.”
