A moment of shock for a 59-year-old German during a dive in the Plansee in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol on Sunday: his automatic machine suddenly gave out at a depth of about 35 meters. The man panicked and emerged far too soon with a companion trying to come to his rescue. Arriving at the surface of the water, he stopped responding for the time being.
On Sunday morning, a group from Germany went diving together in the second largest lake in Tyrol. Shortly after 10:15 a.m., at a depth of about 35 meters, the 59-year-old informed his companions that something was wrong with him.
Came into shock way too soon
“A 48-year-old from the diving group noticed the signals and tried to give the man her second regulator because his regulator had apparently stopped working,” police said. The 59-year-old panicked and, accompanied by the woman, appeared much too quickly without taking the necessary breaks.
Take an emergency helicopter to the hospital
„Arriving at the surface of the water, the man stopped responding for the time being. With the support of other people, the two Germans could finally be pulled ashore,” the researchers continued.
After first aid on the spot, the 59-year-old was flown to the hospital in Reutte with the emergency doctor helicopter “RK-2” – the woman was taken there by ambulance. Both were hospitalized as hospitalized.
