No votes against – Duma votes to annex Ukrainian territories

Date:

The Russian parliament (the State Duma, note) on Monday approved the annexations of four Ukrainian regions. In the Duma there were no votes against the laws including Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia on Russian territory.

President Vladimir Putin on Friday declared the annexation of occupied Ukrainian territories that had recently declared their willingness to join the Russian Federation in fake referendums that were not recognized internationally. “It is the will of millions of people,” emphasized the Kremlin head in his speech at the signing of the contracts with the leaders of the separatist regions.

Annexations not internationally recognized
EU heads of state or government have dismissed the annexations as illegal. “We will never recognize this illegal annexation,” said a statement released Friday. “These decisions are null and void and cannot have legal effect.” It also states that the annexation is firmly rejected and unequivocally condemned. Russia thus endangers global security.
