The 2023 accounts, with a pronounced social character, include a monthly aid of 100 euros for the education of 0-3 years, improvements in unemployment benefits and help with dependency.

The Council of Ministers of the Spanish government on Tuesday approved the project of the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2023. These are the main novelties included in the agreement between partners:

families. “Almost universal” help of 100 euros per month for education between 0 and 3 years (until now, the grant was only for working moms). The families single parent with two or more children will be considered numerous. New permissions are set for the reconciliation.

Unemployment. From the seventh month, the unemployed receive 60% of the legal salary base (has been halved so far, after the changes by the PP).

– It keeps the Free transportation on Cercanías and Media Distancia trains for returning passengers during the year 2023, extending a measure that was initially set to expire on December 31 of this year. In concrete terms, the PGE includes an item of 700 million euros for the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, which represents an increase of 41.2% compared to last year, the largest part of which is earmarked for this measure.

pensions. Updating of pensions, both non-contributory and non-contributory, according to this past year’s average CPI (December 2021-November 2022), with the aim of “guaranteeing their purchasing power”. The current forecast is in this way that the increase is around 8.5%.

Minimum living income (IMV). The amount to be received is also updated according to the CPI.

Consolidation of the young housing benefitwith a budget of 200 million in 2023. The Youth Rental Voucher is a subsidy of 250 euros per month for two years for people between the ages of 18 and 35 who earn a salary of less than three times the Iprem and rent a house for 600 euros per month or less (expandable in any community up to 900 euros), or a room up to 300 euros (expandable up to 450 euros).

– Starting a affordable rental programendowed with 260 million euros.

– Increase of education expenditure of 6.6% compared to last year to EUR 5,354 million.

– Increase of health care expenditure 6.7%of which 173 million for primary care and 500 million for primary care and mental health infrastructure.

– 50 million, for 1000 new places of first medical course.

– “Record match” for scholarships, with 400 million more, to ensure equal opportunities. Another 300 million will go to the “School 4.0” program to “bring technology closer to the field of education”.

– Record expenses for the dependencewith a total of 3.522 million after an increase in the grant by 620 million.

Official staff. Increase of a further 1.5% for 2023 on the 2% already applied in the civil servant salaries.
