Day 46 in Russia’s war against Ukraine: These are today’s key developments.
The most important of April 10 in short:
-
Ukraine does not expect President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to meet with Vladimir Putin any time soon to negotiate an end to the war. “To say that they will meet in a week, in two weeks — no, they won’t,” said presidential adviser Mykhailo Podoliak.
- According to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, NATO is working on plans for a permanent military presence on the borders of its member states.
- Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder is even considering the controversial fracking technology as a replacement for Russian gas. “We should not completely exclude oil and gas production from existing capacities in Germany,” said the CSU leader.
The Russian military offensive in Ukraine is the culmination of a conflict that has been raging for years. A chronology of the events can be found here.
