Spectacular traffic accident on Sunday night in the Tyrolean Sellraintal: A 22-year-old driver who was on the phone with his girlfriend went off the road and came to a stop in the Melach.
The accident happened just after midnight. The 22-year-old, who says he was on the phone with his girlfriend over the loudspeaker, was driving his car out of the valley on L13 Sellraintalstraße when he suddenly went off the road near Gries.

The car then broke through the guardrail, crashed into the adjacent Melach and remained on the roof in the water.

“A resident who heard a loud bang immediately ran to the car and managed to free the driver from the seat belt through the side door and get it dry,” the police said. The local was shocked. A breath analysis showed that he was slightly intoxicated.
