In Upper Austria, 2,695 new corona infections have been reported in the past 24 hours. There is currently no region in Europe where so many people are infected as in this country.
The number of people hospitalized with a corona infection has also risen sharply in recent days. In Upper Austria, 335 patients are currently in a normal ward and ten in intensive care. The 7-day incidence has increased to 1187.4 in recent days. This does not only make you a leader in Austria: there is no region in the rest of Europe with so many current new infections.
It’s hard to say why it hits our federal state so hard. The fact is, however, that Upper Austria is very behind in terms of vaccination coverage compared to other European countries.
