The number of new corona infections reported in Austria on Thursday is back in five figures. 15,099 new cases were counted. The normal wards in the hospitals again felt a strong increase in corona-infected patients.
The situation in the hospitals continues to deteriorate: 80 new patients infected with the virus arrived in the normal wards alone. 2,096 corona-infected people are currently being cared for in normal wards. And even if a Covid diagnosis is reported in the hospital as an “incidental finding”, it means extra effort and costs for the staff – keyword: isolation. And that despite the already precarious personnel situation.
The number of people to be treated in intensive care fell by two and there are currently 98 intensive care patients requiring treatment. In addition, 15 other people infected with the virus died.
The data status of the epidemiological reporting system (EMS) related to the corona pandemic in Austria is updated daily in the afternoon on the dashboard of AGES (Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety). The data reflects what happens between midnight and midnight of the respective event day before wider.
