A visit from neighbors in the Favoriten district of Vienna came to an abrupt end on Saturday evening. One of the guests is said to have tried to steal his hostess’s tablet. When the 45-year-old then asked the suspected thief (22) to leave the apartment, the situation escalated.
The 22-year-old was visiting a 27-year-old acquaintance of the woman. There was an attempted theft around 11:30 PM, but an acquaintance of the woman and the 45-year-old managed to prevent the act. The 45-year-old then asked the young man to leave, which the native Syrian did.
A short time later, however, the 22-year-old would have returned to the apartment with two other men. According to the police, his companion was a 17-year-old Syrian and a 32-year-old of unknown nationality. The latter was armed with an iron bar – presumably a towel rail.
Scramble ended in injuries
The men forcibly gained entry to the woman’s apartment. A scuffle ensued in which the 45-year-old and the 27-year-old were injured. The 22-year-old allegedly threatened to kill the woman. The officers, who had meanwhile been alerted, temporarily detained the intruders upon arrival. An entry and approach ban and a temporary arms ban were issued against them. The iron bar was secured for the time being.
Rescue workers took over the woman’s emergency medical care. She stayed in home care. The 27-year-old did not require medical treatment.
