Together with partners, OMV is investing almost 900 million euros in the development of new gas deposits in the Berling field in Norway, the Norwegian energy ministry announced on Wednesday. Production is expected to start in 2028.
OMV, which operates the field, has a 30 percent interest in the license. Norwegian state energy group Equinor has 40 percent, Norwegian oil and gas producer DNO 20 percent and oil and gas company Sval Energi 10 percent.
The Berling gas field is located approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the Aasgard field in the North Sea and is expected to be developed with a subsea facility linked to the Aasgard B gas processing platform. The natural gas is piped to the Kaarstoe gas processing plant, from where it can be exported to Europe.
