A 27-year-old guest at the Wiener Wiesn in the Leopoldstadt district drank much more than thirst – and then lost control. Because when he was taken off the site, he attacked the guards first – then threw himself at the officers when the police arrived. The operation ended with injuries.
The suspect had started rioting around 7:40 p.m. and the police were alerted. When they arrived, the 27-year-old drunk, who had about 2% in his blood, attacked the officers. He tried to head-lock and drag one of the uniformed men to the ground, police said Monday. The man was eventually overpowered.
Attack despite handcuffs
But that didn’t stop the drunk either: “Even when the 27-year-old was already handcuffed, the man attacked the officers,” it says. Two police officers were said to have been so seriously injured in the attack that they had to resign and undergo outpatient treatment in hospital.
The 27-year-old was reported for attempted defiance of state authority and serious bodily harm.
