An 18-year-old caused a serious traffic accident in Upper Austria on the morning of December 24. Although he had only fitted summer tires, he overtook two cars in the slush near Eggelsberg, lost control and crashed into a tree. He was flown to Salzburg with moderate injuries.
At driving school you learn that you have to adjust your driving behavior when there is snow or melting snow. Although it may not have been that long ago for him, an 18-year-old from Braunau obviously did not think about that. He overtook two cars around 9:40 a.m. on Christmas Eve, even though the road was covered in snow and he was only wearing summer tires.
Slipped and hit a tree
He lost control of his small Citroen van, left the road to the left and collided head-on with a tree on the side of the road. In addition to the police and the Red Cross, two fire brigades were also present.
By helicopter to the hospital
The 18-year-old suffered moderate injuries in the collision, but was still flown to the Salzburg accident hospital with the emergency medical helicopter “Christopherus C6”. The van was completely destroyed in the accident.
