Early on Wednesday morning, around 7 am, several civilian police patrols carried out a search of a single-family home in Grödig. And this on behalf of the Linz public prosecutor’s office. Not only residents were surprised by the raid. The authority was also silent when asked about the reason and only spoke of police measures. However, as the “Krone” could learn, the action would involve investigations into two prison guards at Puch-Urstein Prison.
Officials allegedly collected money from prisoners
The allegations are apparently of bribery and abuse of office. According to the initial information, the two agents with several inmates would have been involved in the smuggling of mobile phones. They would have collected money from the criminals. Further details about the procedure and the period of the alleged smuggling or trade in mobile phones are not yet known.
Salzburg lawyer Kurt Jelinek, who criminally defended both officials, only confirmed the two arrests: “We have yet to properly investigate the allegations.” The question is what exactly are the consequences for the two officials. The Ministry of Justice released a statement to the “Krone”.
