Chaos after explosion – Long traffic jam in Crimea – Chaos awaits for days

Date:

Truck drivers in particular need a lot of patience on the Kerch Strait: after the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, the only transport connection is a ferry. However, there has been a long traffic jam. Many drivers have been waiting for days to continue their journey.

It is still unclear who is responsible for the attack on the Krimbrug. Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of causing the explosion. The fact is that the damage caused traffic chaos – because until you can cross the Kerch Strait as a truck driver, you have to wait days for the ferry dock at the former Kerch airport. There has been little movement in the truck convoy since Sunday.

Route through Mariupol is too risky for many
There is an alternative route via the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Mariupol. But for many drivers, this option is currently far too risky. “My bikes are not in a good condition to ride through Mariupol, if the bike gets damaged there you get stuck there. Those who have cars in good condition have driven,” Russian truck driver Maksharip Kochubarov said, according to ABC News. In addition, there are also concerns about the fuel supply.

However, traffic for cars and trains has resumed. The bridge is an important supply route – security measures have been strengthened by Russia.
