Easing in the migratory movement will come no further easing: an expectant mother and three migrants who lit a campfire in the forest set alarm bells ringing.
It was still dark Thursday as the first dozen illegal immigrants crept across the border and marched on a dirt road to Lutzmannsburg. The group was spotted near a supermarket parking lot. With the help of the army, the police carried out the checks and registration of the migrants. Everyone applied for asylum.
children among migrants
A few kilometers away, a similar image presented itself shortly after in the twilight. More than a dozen refugees had been tracked down by soldiers on the edge of fields in Nikitsch. Among the border-crossers were underage children wrapped in thermal foil that were visible from afar and made an exhausted impression.
A few miles to the north, near Deutschkreutz, isolated splinter groups from a large convoy of migrants fought their way through. 12 of them were found in the train station. Three more set off fire alarms. They had lit a fire in the nearby woods to warm themselves from the blazing flames. Soldiers moved quickly.
Expectant mother in hospital
A pregnant migrant in Deutschkreutz arranged for the rescue service to be deployed. Concerned for her well-being, paramedics rushed the mother-to-be to the hospital. “Everything is under control,” the hospital staff said.
Adjusting tariffs, the supplementary income limit for displaced persons in basic services and the provision of shelter were priority topics at the extraordinary conference of state refugee officers.
conference in November
“The many seizures at the border were not on the agenda, they are not the responsibility of the states,” said the chairman, State Councilor Daniela Winkler. The next conference will take place on November 25.
