A detour was set up on Lippitzbacher Straße in Griffen on Friday afternoon because a serious accident had taken place. A coach collided with a car containing a 78-year-old and an 85-year-old woman. Both occupants were seriously injured.
At the intersection of Lippitzbacher Straße and Grutschen in the municipality of Griffen, a 52-year-old man from the Völkermarkt district was riding a bus towards Griffen around 3 p.m. when the serious accident occurred.
“Suddenly at the bus stop there, a car driven by a 78-year-old woman from the Wolfsberg district, with an 85-year-old woman from the Wolfsberg district in the passenger seat, crossed the road because she apparently wanted to turn the vehicle in the direction of Ruden,” said the Griffen police.
While the three occupants of the bus were unharmed and the driver jerked off, the two women were seriously injured in the head-on collision. “The two had to be freed from the car with hydraulic rescue equipment,” said FF Ruden.
They were flown to the Klagenfurt clinic by rescue helicopters C11 and C12. The roadway was closed to all traffic until just before 6 p.m.
