With a stolen license plate, a 29-year-old drove his car in Lochau (Vorarlberg) towards the Rheintalautobahn. His bad luck: a civilian patrol was already on his heels. However, he did not stop his vehicle, but gave chase through the Lustenauer Ried – until the journey ended in a ditch.
On Saturday morning, the Vorarlberg management received a tip: In the municipality of Lochau, there is said to be a car that was not allowed to drive, which would have provided the 29-year-old owner with stolen number plates. The officers found the car and confiscated the stolen license plates. By evening, the civilian patrol noticed the car again. This time it had a stolen trailer license plate mounted on the front.
Pursuit on A14
In the back, the owner had made less effort. A barely legible cardboard sign hung on the back of the car. The 29-year-old (not in possession of a driver’s license) steered the car towards the Rheintalautobahn, the police gave chase. On the A14, the driver then took the Wolfurt exit and drove towards Lustenauer Ried.
There the civilian patrol wanted to stop the man. But neither the blue light nor the red stop sign impressed the driver, he stepped on the gas. The man drove from Ried to Dornbirn and then drove his car back to Ried. Other police cars were also involved in the pursuit. One of them wanted to cut off the driver’s carriage and turned around. The 29-year-old drove up to the vehicle and touched it.
Fallen in the ditch
The crash caused the 29-year-old’s car to flip over and eventually land in a ditch. From there, the 29-year-old wanted to flee on foot, which was unsuccessful. He was arrested on the spot. He is threatened with a veritable avalanche of advertisements. Fortunately, no one was injured in the entire action.
