Too many day trippers – a dream day led to traffic chaos at Langbathsee

Date:

The fantastic autumn weather created chaotic scenes at the idyllic Langbathsee (Upper Austria) on Sunday. The culprit was numerous drivers who simply parked their vehicles somewhere and ignored a lock.

Following a complaint to the Ebensee Police Station that there was traffic chaos in the Langbathsee area and the L1297 was patrolled in the area. What the officials then experienced there was unbelievable.

Police took pictures
Numerous cars were parked along the L1297 where stopping and parking is prohibited. Due to the futility of the anonymous warrant procedure, photos of the illegally parked cars were taken and reported to the Gmunden district.

114 Wildlife Park
A total of 114 cars were parked incorrectly. One of the cars was still driving and unlocked, even though the driver was not with the vehicle. The car was parked and locked. This will be reported separately. Because the influx of vehicles was still ongoing, a temporary blockade on the L1297 for day trippers was ordered in consultation with the news service of the BH Gmunden.

Lock broken and chaos
However, as this barrier (closed barrier at the height of the Feuerkogel funicular) was ignored, a police officer had to keep an eye on the barrier there and then the barrier was maintained from the intersection with the main road, as it was closed from the city center to the Feuerkogel cable car chaotic conditions. This block was initially carried out by officials from the Bad Ischl police station and later by those colleagues from the Feuerkogel funicular. The lockdown was activated from 1.45 pm to 5 pm.
