Since September, an unusual series of armed robberies has kept the Salzburg police on their toes. Investigators still don’t know if there is a connection between the crimes. If it is an individual act, then a total of five perpetrators are still on the run after the attack on a hotel in the Andräviertel on Friday evening. The only suspect arrested so far strongly denies the act and is challenging the imposition of pre-trial detention before the Higher Regional Court.
Most of the perpetrators are still at large in the striking series of robberies in recent weeks. Only one suspect has been arrested so far. As is known, there have been six armed robberies in and around the capital since September. It is not clear whether there is a connection between the crimes.
As reported, there was another armed robbery on Friday. This time around 10 pm a hotel in the Andräviertel was hit. The loot: a few hundred euros. “The investigation is still ongoing,” the police said. The extensive search turned up nothing. Looking for a man with a German accent, about 1.75 meters tall.
Same procedure, no mugshots for the time being
Like the other perpetrators, the robber was wearing black clothing and an FFP2 mask. He was also armed with a pistol. There are currently no mugshots from the hotel. The police are now searching the area for usable images from surveillance cameras.
Clear Mugshots
In the series, the criminals have only been able to expect one investigation success so far. As reported, the robber of de Volksbank changed clothes in the Kiesel building on Monday after the crime and then provided clear police photos in which he can be seen unmasked. The other robbers weren’t so unlucky.
By the way, the alleged bank robber is now in custody, but still vehemently denies the crime. He is now challenging the arrest warrant in the Higher Regional Court.
