A horrific scene unfolded in a New York subway station on Saturday: an unknown person suddenly pushed an unsuspecting passenger onto the rails from behind. A security camera captured the event.
The video shows the man trying to approach his future victim. The first time the stranger hesitates, the second time he carries out his plan and pushes the other passenger onto the rails. The 26-year-old victim could not even see his attacker and was attacked from behind.
However, the young man was extremely lucky as other travelers reacted quickly and managed to pull him onto the platform in plenty of time before the next train arrived. The 26-year-old suffered minor injuries to his legs.
Police hope for clues
Police are now looking for the attacker and the public has been asked for help. The published video material should lead to the swift arrest of the perpetrator.
The number of attacks on the New York subway had recently increased. By 2024, the city now wants to install platform screen doors at three metro stations for testing purposes.
