The average price of electricity on the wholesale market (pool) for this Tuesday, April 12, amounted to 237.3 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), 45% more than on Monday.
The price for this Tuesday almost quadrupled that registered a year ago, when it was 63.04 euros/MWh, and is 15% higher than that of February 24, when the war in Ukraine started.
So far in April, the average price of electricity is 218.4 euros/MWh, 22% lower than, in March, the most expensive month in history
That average price for the month almost doubles the price for all of 2021, the year with the most expensive electricity in history, in which the average price was 111.4 euros/MWh.
In Spain, wholesale market prices have a direct impact on the regulated tariff or PVPC, which covers nearly 11 million consumers in Spain, and serves as a reference for the remaining 17 million who contract their supply on the free market.
