While the number of Covid patients in the country’s normal wards has fallen sharply, a slight increase in the number of corona intensive care patients has been reported the day before. On Wednesday, 9596 new corona infections were registered throughout Austria. 18 other people infected with the virus died.
Specifically, a decrease of 96 patients was reported in the normal wards and eight patients were added to the intensive care wards. There are 2,380 infected people in hospitals and 132 seriously ill people are being cared for in intensive care. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 5,379,734 confirmed infections in Austria and 20,971 corona patients have died.
Vaccination figures remained at the relatively high level of the previous week. On Wednesday, 22,628 stitches were administered, of which 20,827 booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and each subsequent vaccination dose) after the three-part basic vaccination. A total of 998,708 people have received a booster vaccination to date.
