Serious industrial accident at a company in Schlitters (Tyrol): A 59-year-old fell into a cutting machine and his right hand was cut off. In the Innsbruck clinic, the doctors are now trying to save the hand.
At around 11:35 a.m. Friday, a 40-year-old and a 59-year-old employee were working with an electrically operated cutting machine in a production hall of a company in Schlitters. According to the initial findings, while the 59-year-old was positioning a product that had already been inserted, the 40-year-old had already started the cutting process.
Getting caught in the blade
The 59-year-old fell between the product and the knife, cutting his right hand off at the wrist. The employees present immediately provided first aid and started the rescue chain.
The injured person was flown to the hospital in Innsbruck in a rescue helicopter. The exact circumstances of the accident are still the subject of further investigation.
