The pilot of a Russian fighter plane captured his own crash with his helmet camera (see video above). The Soviet Sukhoi Su-25 crashed into a field and caught fire. The pilot appears to have survived. The crash of a fighter jet in Siberia on Sunday ended less badly – both pilots were killed.
The video briefly shows a parachute that probably brought the pilot safely to Earth. In the background, dense clouds of smoke and a fireball can be seen – hardly anything of the fighter plane remains.
In Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, air targets have been repeatedly attacked since late February, and recently there have been a particularly high number of attacks on energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said late Saturday night: “No attack by Russian terrorists can stop the country.”
Russian military plane crashes into residential building
Another video from Russia shows that the Russian air force is currently not doing optimally. It shows a Russian military plane crashing into an apartment building in the Siberian city of Irkutsk.
It is a two-storey house, Igor Kobsev, the governor of the region, told Telegram SMS service. Russian news agency Interfax reports that two pilots were killed in the crash, citing authorities.
According to other media reports, it was a Sukhoi Su-30 machine that was on a test flight. It is the second incident in a week. A Sukhoi Su-34 fighter jet crashed into an apartment building in the southern Russian city of Yeysk on Monday. At least 15 people were killed.
