Workers of the operator of the Bizkaibus lines in Busturialdea and Lea Artibai will start this Monday with the eleven days stoppage announced as negotiations on the agreement continue “blocked” and the company has “intent to freeze wages,” as reported by UGT.
The strikes have been proposed by the BLB committee, which is the only one present by the UGT, and were endorsed in workers’ meetings, to demand wage increases with reference to the CPI, “as has already been negotiated in another Bizkaibus operator”.
This is how the work stoppages start on Monday 24 October from 05:50 am to 09:20 am Y from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.that the days will last November 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 25, 28 and 30. In addition, a 24-hour strike day is held on October 31, which coincides with the celebration of the last Monday in Gernika.
The interruptions will affect the Bizkaibus lines connecting Bilbao of Bermeo, Lekeitio, Ondarroa, Gernika, Mungia, Ermua, UPV/EHU and Galdakao Hospital.
UGT has denounced “blocking negotiations” of the agreement, not updated since December 2020and “the company’s intention to freeze wages, while in other Bizkaibus concession companies, such as Avanza Durangaldea, an agreement has been reached with pay increases to last year’s CPI (6.4%) and at a time when inflation is skyrocketing”.
The union has appealed to the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, as “responsible for the services” of Bizkaibus, so that “no wage differences arise between some concessionaires and others”.
